I incorporate crochet, felting, needlework, embroidery and sewing into my work. Adding accessories such as beads, buttons crystals add dimension and a sense of individuality to each creation. Origin of pinGwenn: the name was inspired from a “pin”. I know the first thing that people think of is a push pin. But -A pin is a device used for fastening objects or materials together- And with that in mind pinGwenn was created. Inspired by nature, little things often unnoticed to others, and usually tied into seasons and old holidays traditions. To me there’s something about the changes in nature that seem refreshing and alive. Allowing others to see that through my work is one of the things that drives my passion.
I have been crafting since the age of seven. I can still remember sitting in my grandmothers den in a rocking chair next to her with the fireplace keeping us warm as we sat quietly with a basket of yarn by our side and crochet hook in hand. After I accomplished a single stitch there seemed to be no stopping me. With my grandfathers inspiring words that you can do anything you put your mind to, I have been creating handmade designs and patterns ever since.
I stumbled across felting in the clearance isle of a craft store. I guess no one was interested in the strange contraption, so loving a challenge, which I was eager to take it on. I love challenges and projects. There is something about someone saying “you can’t do that” that inspires me to go outside the limits we have set on ourselves and show that we can. So, with a book by my side, Betz White’s cupcakes, and a few tools and ball of wool roving, I was on my way to a new addiction. Ever since, I have been incorporating different techniques together: Crocheting my own felt, Needle Felting, Wet felting, and my fast imagination often thinking “what if I…”
I recently started up an Etsy Storefront to share my work with the world after much encouragement and finally taking the leap, once again a new challenge is underway.
